This week we finished up the alphabet with the letter Z. We practiced writing the letter Z and we worked with what sound z makes. Because we finished up the alphabet this week reviewed all of our letters by playing a partner game. On Tuesday, each child was given either an uppercase or lowercase letter. Once they were told to go, they had to find their letter partner without talking. They all really enjoyed this game! We played it a couple of times.
This week we talked about about kites. What is needed for a kite to fly? How does a kite work? Can you use a kite without wind? We answered all of these questions throughout the week. On Thursday, we were separated into groups and our task was to build our own kite with the materials that were provided. This was a lot of fun and interesting to watch to see how they each built their kite.
This week we changed out our centers. We have new puzzles and games, new books, a new letter game in pocket chart, and we are working on getting a new dramatic play area. It will be ready Monday!
This week with kites, we did some art projects, patterned with kites, and read books about them.
This week we went and saw our 4k-5th grade friends perform "I Need a Vacation". They thought this play was funny! They all really enjoyed it and behaved really well through the whole thing.
Our first couple of days of our Alphabet countdown were a success! We loved apple day and beach day! For apple day we ate our apples out on the playground, so that we could enjoy the weather. They enjoyed picking a spot on the playground to enjoy their fruit with their friends. Beach day was a success as well! We ate snack on our towels and enjoyed wearing our sunglasses and flipflops in the classroom.
Next week we will be PALS testing for our last time with school year.
