This week 4k learned all about space and we worked on writing the letter O and what sound O makes. We learned that it takes 4 days to get to the moon! We all thought that was pretty cool.
On Monday we worked on patterning in the discovery center. The kids choose which color mittens they wanted to use and they made a pattern of their choice.
On Wednesday we worked on writing the letter O in writing center. We had a blast in block center! We kept making towers for our animals to live in. They are so creative! In art we made rainbows. We talked about what colors made up the rainbow and then we did our best to put the colors in order. In writing center we focused on finding our letter O's. We are getting really good are recognizing our letters each week!
In dramatic play area this week we enjoyed one more week on playing in the airport. They really enjoyed being pilots a flying to imaginary destinations.
In our puzzle and game center we got new puzzles and new games to play with! We really enjoyed the princess puzzle and the Thomas the Train puzzle. Our favorite new game we have is Cooties. We are really enjoying rolling the dice and matching the number rolled to the item needed for our bugs.
On Thursday we pretended to be astronauts in space and we made pudding just like they would if they were in space. We had a blast shaking the bag and eating the pudding we made for snack. For our letter O crowns this week, it focused on the letter O sound. We had to look at the pictures on our crown and decide if we heard the sound the letter O makes.
In discovery center on Thursday, we counted the number of letter o's we saw on our page. We also worked on writing that number. We are continuing to practice writing our numbers. We are getting really good at them!

Valentine's Day Class Party
Valentines' Day stuff has begun to come out so you may begin your shopping.
Our school policy on Valentines is All or Nothing = bring a valentine for the whole class or none at all. At the 4k level, we suggest not to write names in the "TO" spot so they can go down the line and simply hand out valentines, but we do encourage the students to write their own name on the "FROM" line. What great practice! We have 16 students in our class.
We do have a peanut allergy in our school so we ask that you DO NOT SEND ANY ITEMS CONTAINING PEANUTS. We will be celebrating as a class on February 11th. It is up to you if you would like to bring in valentine's or not.We will be decorating valentine bags prior to this day and we will be celebrating as a class on February 11th.
