We had an excellent week learning all about fire safety!
On Tuesday we had a fire drill and the firemen came to visit us! We watched a fireman get dressed into his uniform. We learned that when they are all dressed up, they are not scary at all! We even got to tour the inside of the fire truck. We all thought that was pretty cool.
On Wednesday we continued to learn all about how to be safe. We talked about what you should and should not do in a fire. For example, we talked about how you call 911 and get out of the fire fast. We talked about how you should never go back inside a house that is on fire, even if you want to get something that you love.
We also practiced making AB patterns with fire safety pictures! We are starting to get the hang of what a pattern is! This week in dramatic play we rocked at being firefighters and saving our friends from their house that was on fire. Lots of fire truck noises in our room this week. :)
In discovery this week we focused on counting fire pictures and graphing our results. They loved searching for all of the fire pictures. On Wednesday we painted with forks! We made fires in art- they turned out really cute!
On Thursday we read a poem called "Ten Little Firefighters" We said the poem together and then we searched through the poem to find the letters we have learned in 4k so far! We did a really good job of finding our A's, B's, C's and D"s.
In writing center we have been working extra hard at writing our names! Today in writing center we got to practice writing our names with pencils, crayons, markers, and Ms. Hietpas' special colored pens! We are doing awesome! Please continue to work on writing your child's name with them at home. Please help enforce that we use little letters after our first letter in our name. We have been working really hard at trying to write our letters the correct way.
Today we also spent the morning with our 1st and 2nd grade buddies. We made some beautiful fall tress with them!
