This week in 4k we learned all about the letter K and Christmas! This week we also spent a lot of our time practicing for our gingerbread show. Thank you to everyone who came last night! It was a great show! I know everyone was really excited to show their families all they have been learning for the gingerbread show! It was a success.
This week we learned about the letter K. In writing center this week we spent a lot of time learning how to write the letter, the letter sound, and finding the letter K when it was mixed in with other letters.
In art center this week our projects revolved around Christmas. On Monday we had to roll dice, count out decorations to put on our trees, practice writing our numbers (we learned fun sayings for our numbers this week, so that we know how to write them), and colored our trees. They really had a lot of fun with this activity! On Tuesday in our art center we made cute snowman ornaments! On Wednesday we made some cute reindeer ornaments as well! On Thursday in art we made our K page for our ABC book. We did a "K is for king" page! They turned out really well.
In discovery this week we focused on number recognition, writing our numbers, and learning all about weight with our scale. On Tuesday in discovery center we did a Roll, Add, and color activity. In this activity we rolled two dice, counting the number of dots we rolled, and then we searched our pictures looking for our number. This activity was challenging at times when counting several dots, but we all got the hang of it and enjoyed it!
On Wednesday in discovery we continued to practice writing our numbers while being introduced to addition as well. We talked about counting groups to figure out how much we have all together. They caught on to this concept every well. We are continuing to practice our number writing in this center.
Reminder:
- Literacy bags are due back every Thursday. Please try to remember to turn them in on time, so that I have Friday to make sure they are all ready for Monday.
- Wednesday, December 23rd: is PJ DAY! We will be doing some fun Christmas activities and watching a movie in our PJ's!
