This week we focused on the letter R and we talked about President's Day. This week we talked about what President's Day is, What a President does, and Who our President is. On Monday we did a fun writing project, where we talked about what we would do if we were President. We came up with some fun answers!
On Monday in our game center we learned how to play Go Fish. In this Go Fish game, we had to match the uppercase and lowercase letters. We all had a lot of fun learning this game. On Monday in our writing center, we used bendy sticks to form our letters. We really enjoyed this as well!
In our discovery center this week we used coins in our scale. We thought it was pretty fun to play with real money and see how heavy one side could get on our scale.
For gym this week we played with the parachute! We learned a new game called popcorn! We thought watching the balls fly around was a lot of fun! Lots of laughs in gym this week! Our favorite thing with the parachute is still the mushroom!
On Tuesday in our writing center we were introduced to file folder games. This week we are focusing on matching our uppercase and lowercase letters with our file folders.
With our letter R, we not only practiced our handwriting on how to correctly form our letters, but we also focused on the letter sound. This week we had to look at pictures of things and figure out what pictures started with the letter R sound. We are getting really good at listening to the sounds we hear when looking at a picture, or when we are trying to write a word.
This week our letter R craft was rainbow. We had to rip the colors and put them in order. We thought this was a fun project! We even put clouds and treasure at the end of our rainbows.
In our discovery center this week, we not only played with money and our scale, but we focused on our counting skills as well. We rolled two dice, counted the total dots we saw (introduction to adding) and found the number on our sheet, and colored it!
This week we talked a lot about what a friend is, and what it means to be a friend. Some answers we came up with are: Be nice, share, say I'm sorry, be kind, give friends space when they need it. We did a friendship activity where we had to try to stand up at the same time, without letting go of each others hands. This involved communication between the partners and coordination to stand up at the same time. We all had fun with this activity!
