This week in 4k we talked all about farms and the letter G! We learned a lot about the different animals we seen on a farm. In morning circle we started our week off by doing the "Big Red Barn" activity. We followed a poem and had to figure out what farm animal the poem was talking about by rhyming. Here is an example:
" I wonder what's in the big red barn.
I wonder what's in it for me.
It starts with "Sh"
And it rhymes with beep.
Oh what do you think it could be?"
Everyone did an excellent job listening and figuring out what animal we were talking about. It was a lot of fun. Later in the week we also worked on animal riddles. They had to listen to the clues and figure out what animal I was talking about. They really enjoyed this activities. This week we also taste-tested different types of milk. Strawberry milk was the big winner!
On Monday we worked on our cutting skills. They had to cut on the different shaped lines. They all concentrated really hard on this.
In gym this week we did animal actions. They had to gallop like a horse, roll like a pig, waddle like a duck, ect. across the gym. They laughed the whole time. :)
This week in the writing center we worked on building our letters with play dough, writing our names, and working on the letter G.
In our sensory bin this week it was a farm theme. The students played with the small farm animals, the barn, and fall gourds and seeds.
In discovery this week we worked on patterning. We had fall pattern cards and they had to complete the pattern. They all really enjoyed finishing the patterns. We also had a "Pig in the Mud" activity. For this activity, the students had to roll the dice, count the number of dots on their dice, and place that many pieces of "mud" on their pig.
In our listening center we introduced new books. They now have thanksgiving and fall themed books to choose from.
In our cars and block area we introduced the farms and animals for the students to play with. This week they were really creative with using the blocks to build a field for the animals. They worked together to complete this. It was awesome to see such great team work and communication.
Art this week;
Monday- We stamped with potatoes. They loved this messy activity!
Tuesday- We made paper plate chickens. They worked on their tracing, cutting, and gluing skills.
Wednesday- We made baby chicks and sheep! They worked again on the tracing, cutting, and gluing skills. Their tracing and cutting have come along way! They work so hard!
Thursday- We worked on making our letter G page for our ABC book. G is for goldfish!
Thank you to those who have been brining in milk jugs! Our igloo has come along way this week. We have to finish up one more layer and then we will be working on the door and start building it up! Keep brining in your milk jugs! We appreciate all the help and support!
