This week in 4k we talked all about camping! We discussed what is needed for a camping trip, what we do on a camping trip, and things that you may see on a camping trip.
This week in art we did two camping related activities. We made a jar of fireflies, and we drew pictures that dealt with our five senses.
In writing this week we wrote a "If I was a firefly" piece. What everyone came up with was really well thought out! We also made a "let's go camping" book today where we had to write the words of different objects we would see camping.
This week we had our 4k safety fair! On this trip we learned about being kind, road signs we may see, about fire safety, about never touching a gun, and about medicine safety. We first met with a school counselor and we talked about being kind. We talked about how everyone has something they are good at and we should always encourage our friends to keep working at things they are good at, even it is something that we may not be good at. We are all different, and that is okay. We then met and talked about road signs. We looked at different pictures of signs and tried to figure out what they mean. We then met with firefighters. With the firefighters we learned about campfire safety and fireworks. Next, we met with a policeman. We talked a lot about how we should never touch a gun, and if we find one, we need to tell an adult. Next, we met with a pharmacist. He talked about how we only take medicine that is ours, we take all of our medicine the doctor prescribes us, even though we may be feeling better, and only take medicine that an adult gives us... never play with medicine for pretend. Our last center we did was called the bike rodeo. At this center, we got to ride around on scooters and follow basic road laws... these were:
- Go on green
- Stop on red
- Yield to a railroad track
- Follow friends, do not pass widely
We had a blast on this trip and we learned a lot of important safety information!
This week we had a blast with our alphabet countdown! It is crazy to think we have three days of school left! This school year has gone so fast and it was an absolute pleasure working with all of your kids! I will definitely miss them next year!
