Hello!
Yesterday we started All About Me week in 4k! Yesterday we read a book called "We Are All Alike, We Are All DIfferent". After we read the book we talked about how we are alike and how we are different as a class. Once we were done with this, we did an egg activity. We looked at two different eggs and talked about how they are alike and how they are different. Once we were all done looking at them, we all made a guess to whether they would be the same on the inside. We quickly found out that they are the same on the inside! :) We compared the eggs to ourselves- We may all look different, but we are all the same on the inside.
During centers yesterday we continued to explore all about ourselves. In the art center we drew self portraits, in the game center we made ourselves using Mr. Potato Head, and in the writing center we used playdough to form letters from our name or our friends names. We also learned about the listening and technology center. For the listening center Ms. Hietpas records herself saying stories! We learned how to use the iPod to listen to the books she records. We also played on our iPad! on the iPad we are able to play games that help us to recognize letters, learn letter sounds, and count!
Today we rocked learning about everyone's names! We talked about a poem called "Everyone Has a Name". After the poem, we all counted the letters in our name- we practiced drawing x's and counting how many x's we drew to show home many letters are in our name.
During center time we explored each others fingerprints in the discovery center. We learned that everyone has different fingerprints! In art center we used our fine motor skills today! Today we traced our letters in our name with stickers! This took a lot of work for some of us, but we all got through it!
We are continuing to work on our All About Me book as a class, I cannot wait to finish it and share it in our classroom library. Thank you families for all of your hard work on working with your child on their Family Posters! They turned out fantastic and everyone enjoyed sharing them with the class! They are now hanging in the hallway for everyone to enjoy!
